MACCS Befriending Companions: Being there……an opportunity to serve

On 7th November, Swami Shubamritanada Puri spoke to the 35 volunteers of MACCS Befriendind Companions. His heartfelt words have inspired and motivated the dedicated volunteers during these difficult times.

Here is a small extract from Swamiji’s talk:

‘Let me assure you, the service is something that is so close to Amma’s heart. We all know what Amma does for the world. Apart from all the humanitarian work, she is available for each and every person;

that feeling that I am here for you…don’t worry you can come to me, whatever are your problems, your sorrows just unburden it and I will take care of it.

That is such assurance and has changed so many lives in the world and has really given them so much peace and solace. So in one way we are trying to be an instrument in this process we are trying to do whatever we can from our part reaching out to all those who need help.

And I always remember a small quote that Amma says quite often “Not everybody gets the chance to serve”. To hold on to that and say that …. Somehow Amma has been kind ….., God has been kind to give me this opportunity. Why should I let it go? It’s such a thing to get an opportunity to serve as they have said the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service of others, that’s when you really find yourself.’ Swami Shubamritanada Puri 2020
